

Irmgard Emmi ‘Irma’ Fischer passed away suddenly on Friday, July 8, 2022 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Nürnberg, Germany in May of 1939. Irma was married to Helmut J. Fischer, who preceded her in death in 1989. Her life adventures began with him in March of 1958 when they married. They traveled for his assignments as a member of the United States Army through several states with an extended seven-year tour of duty overseas in Nürnberg. In 1975 they returned stateside to Columbus, GA and subsequently relocated to Colorado Springs, CO in 1977 to retire.
Her activities with her senior luncheon club, her monthly gathering of German ladies and enjoying time with her Bunco group kept her busy. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling here in the US and internationally. She visited her mother Brigitte Dummert (now deceased), family and several lifelong friends in Germany on a regular basis for much of her life and enjoyed going on cruise ship adventures.
Irma was a member of the Red Cross Volunteer’s overseas as a dental assistant in the late1960’s. She enjoyed dental assisting so much that it would turn into a career that lasted for nearly twenty years in Colorado Springs.
Irma will be sorely missed by all and is survived by her daughter Rose (Chris) Hoopes of Parker, CO and her son Richard (Janet) Fischer of Colorado Springs, CO; along with her three granddaughters Kelley Hoopes (Drew Oswald), Kristi (Tucker) Huseth, Kinsey Fischer (Dylan Sater), as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Heinz Dummert (Marga Döres), her in-laws Sigi (Manfred) Bauerle, Hadwig Fischer, along with numerous cousins all of which still reside in Germany.
A memorial celebration of Irma’s life will be on Saturday, August 13, 2022. A private inurnment with her husband, Helmut, will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
