He lived 37 days after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. Born on May 12, 1956, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. the eldest son of Robert and Rosemarie Scott. He was raised with a sense of humor, a love of travel and a passion for photography. James carried these skills throughout his life. Always ready with his camera in hand.
Coming from a military family meant moving often. He always tried to set a good example and help his siblings Cheryl, Katherine and Steven adapt to the new places they called home. He lived a life full of friends, laughter, love and way too many bad jokes.
James was the beloved husband of Deborah. Moving from Arizona to Minnesota and then Colorado. James had a degree in drafting, but didn't like being inside. He graduated from Buena High in 1974 and attended Cochise College and the University or Arizona. He returned to school in Minnesota to complete a degree in Visual Communications (Photography). James and Deborah finally settled in Colorado Springs and raised two awesome boys, Brian and Alex. They supported each other with the tragic loss of their infant daughter, Jennifer Ashley. Jim was a proud and involved father always cheering on and supporting his boys.
When the boys were old enough to join Scouts, he was “ALL IN”. He became a leader in every level of scouting. Training and teaching both adults and children. As Director, his day camps were always action packed, unique and filled up quickly. Many skills were learned and memories made by all who attended.
Jim tried various niches in photography. He settled on sports photography.
Jim was active with the startup of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church prior to breaking ground on their current location.
Jim and Deb opened an embroidery business shortly after completing a 50th anniversary quilt for his parents. His “Gift of Gab” grew their business. He facilitated one and attended several networking groups. He was well known in the community.
James may be gone but, his wit and charm will never be forgotten. We will always remember his corny jokes, infectious laugh and the way he brightened any room.
Rest in peace, James. May your spirit live on in the memories we hold dear.
