Jeanette graduated from Central High School in Grand Junction, Colorado. In her senior year, she wrote an essay about the United Nations that won her a trip with students from across the United States to visit the United Nations, the Empire State Building, Niagara Falls, and other famous sites in New York. She married her high school sweetheart, the late John Darrell Slogar, shortly after their high school graduation in 1953. They were married for 66 years.
She worked as a teller at the First National Bank of Grand Junction, a cafeteria manager for Mesa County Valley School District 51, and was co-owner of Quality Sheet Metal in Grand Junction, Colorado, until her husband’s retirement in 1984.
Jeanette loved being outside. She loved camping and fishing in the mountains of Colorado, skiing at Powderhorn Ski Resort, and having fun with her family. She was an avid flower gardener, played the piano and organ, enjoyed cooking and sewing, and loved spending time with and caring for animals.
She was beautiful, brilliant, funny, outgoing, adventurous, and hardworking. She believed in being sweet and kind to everyone she met and loved her family and friends with her whole heart.
