

JoAnn married Gerald Gerber in 1952, spending 61 happy years together. Their children include Michael, Debbie Marshall (Kevin), Tami Dickens, along with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Family brought much joy and laughter to her life.
JoAnn graduated from high school in Cherokee, Iowa, attended the University of Iowa, and received her BA from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Her teaching career included Sioux City, Iowa and Widefield Elementary in Security, Colorado. She touched many lives in the Security community, as well as being a valued member of the Widefield staff. She always referred to them as her family.
JoAnn enjoyed many activities. She hiked through the Rocky Mountains, the mountains surrounding Tucson, Arizona, as well as many Security neighborhoods. Happy hours were spent on the golf course where she was an honorary member of the Valley Hi 9’s. She enjoyed bridge, loved to dance, and belonged to PEO Chapter DL.
JoAnn will be remembered for her quick wit, her fashion sense, and for being a good friend. But her family was always the center of her life, and she was the true matriarch.
JoAnn was a long-time supporter of St. Jude’s, so donations can be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 in her name.
