A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Austin
Bluffs Evangelical Free Church in Colorado Springs, CO.
Harry was born on March 16, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Curtis T. and Joan
(Hebrink) Harris. He attended primary and secondary schools in Thief River Falls, MN
graduating from Lincoln High School. Prior to enlistment in the Army, he attended Brown
Institute of Radio Broadcasting in Minneapolis. On March 27, 1971 Harry was united in
marriage with Rhoda I. Gilbertsen. Harry studied for a bachelor's in business at the
University of North Dakota and re-entered the Army as an officer. Harry served as a
decorated officer for 15 years living with his family throughout the United States and
Germany.
Following his Army career, Harry attended Barnett's Bicycle Institute and worked as a
bicycle technician in Colorado Springs. He was an avid cyclist and volunteered with
many groups including the Boy Scouts of America, Bob Telmossé Foundation, and the
Colorado Springs Bicycling Club. In his later years he enjoyed bicycling across the
United States with his brother. Harry was a member of the Austin Bluffs Evangelical
Free Church in Colorado Springs, CO.
Survivors include his wife Rhoda Harris of Colorado Springs, CO and children Heidi L.
(Mark Winchell) Jackson of Albuquerque, NM, Joseph T. (Nicole) Harris of Richmond,
VA, Andrew J. Harris of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren Simon Jackson,
Hailley Winchell, and Kasia Winchell; and siblings Curtis M. Harris of Anchorage, AK,
Mary Jo Harris of Albuquerque, NM, and Leigh Ann Harris of Ellensberg, WA.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Aaron Harris.
