It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John William Smith, a beloved educator, coach, pool player, and lifelong sports enthusiast, who left us unexpectedly on October 17, 2025, at the age of 65. Johnny’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, dedication, and infectious enthusiasm.
Johnny was born on September 6, 1960, to Reva and Don Smith. He was predeceased by his mother, Reva, and is survived by his loving father, Don, who was a constant source of support and pride in his life. Johnny’s extended family, including many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, will cherish the memories of his warm heart and joyful spirit. His circle of close friends, many of whom he considered family, will forever remember his loyalty, humor, and unwavering presence.
Above all, Johnny was an ardent supporter of his beloved Denver Broncos. Whether attending games with family and friends, watching from home, or passionately discussing every play, his love for the Broncos was as steadfast as it was unwavering. He was known for his infectious optimism, even in the toughest of seasons, and his dedication to the team was legendary.
The world has lost a true fan of life, and we take comfort knowing that Johnny will forever be a part of us—on the sidelines of every game, in every lesson he imparted, and in every moment he shared with those who were lucky enough to know him.
A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held on 11/23/2025 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Elks Lodge 309 located at 3400 N Nevada Ave.
Rest in peace, Johnny. You will always be a champion in our hearts.
