Judith Ann Rowland was born on August 4, 1943, to Frances Vanderhoof and Glenn Rowland and was a lifelong resident of Manitou Springs. She met her husband, Ken Van Dyke, when she worked at Montgomery Wards in the receiving area and Ken was the delivery guy. They married in 1965 and had two daughters shortly after. She dedicated her life to raising her family with Ken and was a devoted wife and mother. Once her daughters were older, she went back to work as a prep cook at the Stagecoach Inn where she made fabulous biscuits, soups and desserts. Her warm spirit, patience, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on those around her. She retired over 15 years later to spend time with her grandchildren.
Judy found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. In her younger years she loved to dance and get together with friends. In her later years, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, painting birdhouses and completing puzzles, but most of all she loved spending time with her family; daughters, Lisa Blanot and Denise Mrofcza, and their families. Her family was the heart of her world, and she gave them endless love, support, and care. She and Ken had just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in May.
Judy is survived by her husband, Ken Van Dyke; her daughters, Lisa Blanot (Mike) and Denise Mrofcza (Brent); and her four grandchildren, Brock Mrofcza, Kellie Sabbatino (Nik), Viktor Blanot and Katie Blanot, who brought her immense pride and happiness. Her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at 4272 Ashby Field Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80922. We encourage anyone who knew and loved Judy and the Van Dyke family to come share stories and celebrate her life well-lived. This is a casual backyard event.
