Karen Eileen Clevenger (Robertson), 78, was born October 6, 1946 in Santa Cruz, California and joined the angels on Thursday, May 8th, after battling cancer. She spent her first 11 years in Santa Cruz, happily living near the ocean. Her parents moved their family back to Colorado Springs to be near their families and the mountains in the late 1950's.
Karen attended local schools, graduating from Wasson High School in 1964. She started her career with AF Civil Service, and was one of the first women to work under Cheyenne Mountain, wearing a hard hat to work each day. Karen later retired from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs College of Engineering, and then retired from Teledyne Brown Engineering.
Karen met her loving husband, James (Jim) Clevenger while out "cruising" one evening. They married in 1966, and were happily married for 43 years. Karen and Jim enjoyed camping, hiking, photography, traveling --especially to Disneyland-- and spending time with their family and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by husband Jim, parents Cecil Robertson and Naola Robertson (Luehring), and big brother Glen Robertson. Karen and Glen shared the same birthday, October 6th, exactly six years apart.
Karen is survived by daughter Lynda Thompson (Clevenger) and her husband James Thompson, son Mark Clevenger, and granddaughters Gwendolyn Thompson and Genevieve Thompson. She leaves behind many cherished relatives and friends.
