

Katrine Maxey passed away peacefully in her home in Monument, Colorado on April 10, 2011. Kay was born June 20,1923 in Corsicanna, Texas; the second of three daughters born to Wilbur and Katrina Wright. Kay had a long, wonderful and interesting life. She was a devoted and responsible mother who worked at Braniff Airline, Texas Instruments and the Post Office over the span of her career. Kay was a world traveler, a master hobnobber, an avid church-goer (for one hour only!) and a wonderful friend who told great stories and was fun to be around. She was also referred to as ‘the best dressed woman in Miami.’ She will be missed by all who knew her.
Kay is survived by four sons, James R. (Becky) Maxey II of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Charles F. Maxey of Castle Pines, Colorado, Carl L. (Jeanine) Maxey II of Lakewood, Colorado and Mark (Laurie) Maxey of Manitou Springs, Colorado. Kay is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, Suzanne, Sam and Joseph “Max” Maxey; nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2011 at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 18320 Furrow Road, Monument, Colorado 80132. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM. Interment will take place in the St. Matthias Cemetery.
