Laurie Ann Aplin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laurie Ann Aplin, age 68, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Laurie went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2025, surrounded by loving family members.

Born to Jean and Roland Aplin on July 12, 1956, in Colorado Springs, Laurie spent her entire life in her cherished hometown. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, where she was an avid soccer player, and earned her degree in physical education. A dedicated and compassionate educator, Laurie went on to earn a Master’s degree during her career as a physical education teacher, positively impacting countless students over the years.

Laurie had a deep love for animals and was a passionate advocate for their well-being. She cared for many pets over the years, both her own fur babies and those of friends and neighbors. She was also an active volunteer at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, where her kindness and commitment made a lasting impression.

An outdoors enthusiast, Laurie enjoyed biking, hiking, and camping. Her summer adventures included biking tours across the United States and Europe with friends. Her love for the outdoors was matched by her dedication to her faith, where she was an active member of her church, volunteering and attending classes. She was a cherished family member and will be fondly remembered for her generosity, kindness, and unwavering spirit.

Laurie is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Pring (Brian), two brothers, Dave Aplin (Kathy), and Bill Aplin (Teri),and nine nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 10:00 AM, at Mountain View Independent Living, 945 Tenderfoot Hill Rd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbot Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
