Liliane was born in Verdun, France on 20 July 1938 to Lucien and Helene Leclerc. She met the love of her life, Lyle, in Verdun and they were married there on 5 May 1961. She worked as a switchboard operator for the US Army in Verdun and later in Germany. She always spoke highly of the enjoyment she got from helping people with their calls, both local and overseas. Liliane accompanied Lyle on many military assignments to Colorado, France, Germany, Belgium, and Alaska. On their first assignment to Colorado Springs in 1969, she told Lyle, “This is where we should retire.” After 30 years in the Air Force, they did indeed retire here in Colorado Springs. She and Lyle have one daughter, Sylvia Walton, and three grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Joshua, Jordan, and Juliana. She is survived by her husband Lyle; Sylvia and Billy Walton of Vail, AZ; Joshua and Morgan Musser of Monument, CO; Jordan Musser and Juliana Musser of Littleton, CO; and her sister, Genevieve, of Verdun, France.
Liliane’s memorial service will be held at 1000 am on 24 May 2024 at the American Legion Post 209 in Colorado Springs. Internment at Pikes Peak National Cemetery will be at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Fisher House or the American Legion.
