

She was born June 11, 1924 in Bloomington, Indiana, the eldest daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Price) Gilmore. Also, preceding her in death was her sister, Betty; son James Edward Sundberg and beloved daughter-in-law Connie (Shoemake) and grandchildren Brian and Airika James.
Kay is survived by her son John (Ruth) Sundberg of Garden Grove, CA, daughters Joanne (Ed) Nelson of Black Forest, CO, Janet (Wes) James of Park City, UT, and 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Kay’s family moved to Southern California when she was 12, where she eventually met and married John Sundberg and raised her children. She retired from Los Angeles County Flood Control District where she worked for many years. She moved to Black Forest in 1988 to be near her daughter and grandchildren.
She loved the forest, bird watching, the wildlife, puppy dogs and children. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Suffering from Dementia, she lived for many years at Sterling House n Briargate, where she will also be missed.
A graveside service will be held at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, CA.
