Luetta Marie (Grammy) Brenneman, née Troyer, passed away on August 1, 2016 in Tucson AZ at the age of 91. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother who loved her family. She was a wonderful homemaker. As a devout Christian woman, she was a charter member of the Beth-El Mennonite Church of Colorado Springs, where she served faithfully over the years as a Sunday School teacher, Secretary/Treasurer of WMSC sewing group, Church Historian, Cradle Roll and many other volunteer positions. When the Rocky Mountain Mennonite Conference was formed in 1961, she was the first Conference Secretary for the WMSC. Her involvement in fund raising activities for Frontier Boys Village, a facility for emotional disturbed boys, was emblematic of her life as a devoted partner to Virgil’s leadership in the Conference.
Luetta was born on January 31, 1926 in Milford, NE to Melvin and Mary (Saltzman) Troyer and she attended high school in Milford NE, but met the love of her life during her senior year at Hesston Academy in Hesston, Kansas. She married Virgil L. Brenneman on July 15, 1945 during Virgil’s service in the US Army.
Luetta is survived by children Doug (Linda) Brenneman, North Wales, PA, Chuck (Amy) Brenneman, Colorado Springs, CO, Tom (Donna) Brenneman, Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy (Doug) Stevens, Tucson, AZ, siblings Wayne (Doris) Troyer, Colorado

As Luetta worked for Hallmark for five years, many family members, including nieces and nephews, were remembered on their birthdays with carefully selected greeting cards, as that was “her thing” and a way to let her loved ones know that she cared. Her entire adult life centered on the joy of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her enduring legacy was her loving sprit grounded in the Christian Faith and her Mennonite heritage.
