

Lydia Baca was born on October 29, 1941, in Boone, Colorado to Enrique (Henry) and Rebecca Aleman, and was raised in Avondale, Colorado. Lydia was the fifth born of six siblings, Edward Aleman, Joseph (Turk) Aleman, Theresa Armenta, Louie Aleman, and Tony Aleman. Lydia went to school in Avondale, Colorado and received her GED later as an adult.
Lydia met Edward Baca in Avondale, Colorado, and they were married in Pueblo, Colorado in 1958. They moved to Colorado Springs with their 3 children in 1963 and had a fourth child in 1964. Lydia is survived by her four children: Judy Bacalane, Sheila Baca, Edward “Buzz” Baca, and Jeffrey Baca; as well as by her eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother.
Lydia pursued college courses and did volunteer work with the Children’s Literacy Center program in helping children with reading. She was also the co-owner of Royal Plumbing and Heating. She completed a Reiki-Japanese Healing practice. She also loved to read books and bowl with friends. She loved to work out at the YMCA with friends and go out to lunch. Lydia and Edward also enjoyed their travels to Italy.
Lydia was known for her hearty laugh and kind heart. She was the heart and soul of her family and will be dearly missed.
