

Marcia Thompson, beloved wife, mother, grandma and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully February 9, 2015. Born in Muskegon, MI on September 8, 1928, she was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Marguerite Vander Molen and sister, Shirley Jack. Marcia trusted in Jesus as her Savior when she was four years old, and from that time forward she found great joy in serving her Lord and others. She graduated from Muskegon Junior College on full scholarship, then attended Calvin College (MI) and Wheaton College (IL) where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with multiple majors in Math, Sociology and Education. While at Wheaton, she met her husband, Dr. Thomas M. Thompson. They were united in marriage in Muskegon and honeymooned at Camp-of-the-Woods, Speculator, NY, where they served on Summer Staff. Marcia was a Master Teacher, serving in public schools in Muskegon MI, Dallas TX, Waltham MA, Emmaus PA and Barrington IL, initially teaching Junior High Mathematics and later sixth and third grades. She also earned a Master of Education, Boston State College. She ministered in an exemplary manner as “pastor’s wife” at churches where Tom was Senior Pastor. Marcia delighted in teaching children about Jesus. They had the joy of recently participating in the 50th Anniversary celebration of Faith Church in Allentown, PA where Tom served as Founding Pastor. Marcia and Tom would have been married for 65 years on June 16, 2015. They have three children: Teri Nieder (John) of Dallas, Randall (Geri) of Phoenix and Ronald of Colorado Springs, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Marcia is also survived by her brother, Dr. Larry Vander Molen (Lyn) of Muskegon and many beloved nieces and nephews. All are invited to a memorial service celebrating Marcia’s life at Pulpit Rock Church, Sunday February 22, 2015 at 2pm, Senior Pastor Thomas A.
