Marjorie M Freed, age 99, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on February 9, 2024. She was born on August 18, 1924, to Irvin and Maude Fink of Elkhart, Indiana and was the second of 9 children. Her siblings are Miriam Klopfenstein, Wayne Fink, Lowell Fink, Glenn Fink, Doris Fink, Beatrice Yoder, Wanda Nicholas, and Sherrill Yoder.

She graduated from the La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing in 1946 with a degree in nursing.

Marjorie had a 38-year career as a registered nurse in Elkhart, Indiana and Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was married to Leo W. Freed on September 16, 1951. Together they had one son, Gary.

She was one of the original members of Beth El Mennonite Church in Colorado Springs and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She had a passion for sewing, quilting, baking, and music, even taking piano lessons as an adult.

Marjorie met Leo while she was a nursing student, and he was a tuberculosis patient at the Mennonite Hospital and Sanitarium in La Junta. They were married for 60 years until Leo’s passing in 2011.

She is survived by sisters Beatrice, Wanda, and Sherrill; son Gary (Pam), and granddaughter Criselle.
