

Nettie Otis Daniels (95), passed away peacefully on June 18, 2020 in Colorado Springs, CO. Born Nettie Jewell Otis on December 26, 1924 in Sunnyside, WA to Sophia and Marion Otis. She grew up primarily in Needles, CA, where her father was a Train Engineer. She enjoyed her time with her family and cousins. Nettie went to a private Women's College, earning her degree in Music education. She started piano at an early age and continued to pursue that passion in college, and throughout her life.
She was married to Carl A. Melvin during World War II and joined the WAVES (Navy). They divorced shortly after the war. Later, she married Lugene W. Daniels. They moved to Manitou Springs in the 1960's and settled in Colorado Springs a year or two later. She received her Colorado Teaching Degree in 1970. She and Lugene were married for 20 years before they divorced. She maintained the house and began teaching piano and a few organ lessons. She taught piano deep into her later years and retired just a couple of years ago. She enjoyed going to the Symphony and Organ concerts. She also enjoyed time with friends, square dancing (in younger years), and was an avid reader. She belonged to book clubs throughout the years. She also sang in church choirs and was a church accompanist on piano. She loved to entertain when able.
She is survived by her brother, Tim Otis, and nephew Clifford Otis and numerous grand nieces and nephews in Utah.
