Othal L. Knowles

October 10, 1923 – September 4, 2010

Othal (Yogi), was born to Byron and Rebecca Knowles on October 10, 1923 in Wellington, Texas. He grew up with four brothers and three sisters, all preceding him in death. He entered the Army in 1942 to fight in WWII. He transferred to the Air Force and flew in combat missions over Japan. He served as Flight Engineer on the mighty B-29. After leaving the military, he lived in Amarillo, Texas, where he had various businesses, including upholstery shops and wrecking yards. He also raised cattle and did some farming. In 1968, he moved his family to Colorado Springs. He started Knowles Trim Shop in 1969. He had several different trim shops and car lots over the years. He was a Life Member of VFW 4051. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Joe (Mickey) of Colorado Springs and Byron (Stephanie) of West Palm Beach, Florida; Daughters, Shari (Tom) Cleek of Cascade and Patti (Jack) Wallace of Colorado Springs; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald and daughter, Rebecca. A private family service will be held.
