Patricia was born on September 19, 1937, in Wentworth, Missouri, to Alfred and Freida (Maberry) Hemann. In 1947, she moved with her family to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she would spend much of her life. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School, now known as Palmer High School, in 1955.
On February 19, 1956, Patricia married the love of her life, Edmond L. Lans. Together they built a family and shared many years of devotion. From this marriage came three children: Victor Leroy Lans (born January 1, 1957), Gregory Eugene Lans (born September 21, 1957), and Paula Marie Lans (born June 15, 1959).
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edmond L. Lans, on February 7, 1993; her son Gregory Eugene Lans on September 22, 1957; and her son Victor Leroy Lans on January 28, 1994.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula (Casey) Spurlin of Penrose, Colorado; her cherished grandchildren, Tasha (Bobby) Chevarria of Kiowa, Colorado, Tyler (Kate) Lans of Denver, Colorado, and Ashley (Brandon) Roe of Ordway, Colorado; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Hunter, Callen, Corbyn and Delaney. She is also survived by her sister, Geri (Bill) Guwang of North Carolina.
Patricia was a devoted member of First Evangelical Free Church in Colorado Springs, where she faithfully served on numerous boards and committees over the years. Her commitment to her faith and her church community was a guiding light throughout her life.
For the past six years, Patricia made her home in Canon City, Colorado, where she remained close to family and continued to be surrounded by love.
Her life reflected the strength and hope found in her faith. As written in Isaiah 40:31 (NIV), “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” She also found comfort in the promise of Isaiah 41:10 (NIV): “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Patricia will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her dedication to her family, and her kind and giving spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed.
