

Pauline “Polly” Patrick passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at age 101-1/2. She was born August 29, 1912 near Ft. Smith, AR to William Lee and Viola Belle Philips. Her father passed away when Polly was five and eventually her mother married Dewey Talman McMahan and they moved to Oklahoma. Polly was the oldest of three girls. During World War II she managed a post exchange at Camp Gruber near Muskogee, OK where she met and married Orville Howard “Pat” Patrick. Pat’s career in the US Army brought them to Colorado Springs in the late 1950s. Her faith, her family and her friends were the cornerstones of Polly’s life. She loved to write about the amusing antics of her children, her friends and herself. She had two books published as well as writing occasional articles for the Cheyenne Edition. At her death she was editing a book based loosely on her own life during WWII.
Pat preceded Polly in death. She is survived by her sister, Claudean Sexson, 5 children, Patrecia Stamper, Maryan Baskin and husband Otis, Jean Roblewsky, Linda Gilbert and husband Lee, and John Patrick as well as granddaughters Jessica Patrick, Shonda Mitchell, Maureen Gilbert and grandsons William Stamper, Michael Stamper, Tim Stamper, Andrew Stamper, Brandon Patrick, Ryan Patrick, Dustin Patrick, Mathew Gilbert and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, January 18 at Pikes Peak Church of Christ, 1402 W. Pikes Peak.
