Phillip Murray

Phil was born on August 18, 1949 in Oklahoma and moved to Colorado early in his life with parents Lloyd and Mildred and brother Stephen. As a young adult Phil enjoyed band in school and found his passion for mechanics. Upon graduating from Mitchell High School he helped form the Millmashers Car Club of Colorado Springs.

Phil’s primary job was working at the Country Club of Colorado for Stan Metsker as Head Mechanic. In 1993 he suffered a near fatal car accident, which left him unable to do what he loved most. While working there Stan enjoyed many of Phil’s mischievous antics as Phil was always good for a laugh. Outside of his love of mechanics he enjoyed the outdoors while hunting, fishing, camping, hiking or just a barbeque with special friends Steve Clark, Wayne Kaufman, Lou Friedman, Bob Holman and all of his children. Other hobbies that he liked to do included a good Louis L’Amour book, tinkering with his Dodge trucks and always being available to lend a helping hand to anyone.

Phil was a wonderful and loving father who is survived by all 5 of his children Robert (Morey) Murray and family of Hawaii, Brian Murray and family, Kimberly (Anthony) Murray and family, Kevin (Krissy) Murray and family, Kyle (Jennifer) Murray and family all of Colorado. He also leaves behind close niece Allison (Brian) Guthrie along with several other nieces and nephews from out of state, numerous grandchildren, other special friends, 2 ex-wives, and his dog Deuce.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Mildred, brother Stephen, sister-in-law Laura, niece Meredith and his close friend Steve Clark.

In lieu of service, cremation will take place through Swan Law Funeral Directors. The family would like to thank Phil’s friends and extended family for all their love and support shown to him throughout his life by joining them at a memorial gathering on Monday, July 30th, 2012 at 2:00pm at the property located at 6698 US Hwy 115, Penrose, CO, 81240.Those wishing to contribute to the memorial are asked to consider the family.
