He joined the United States Air Force in 1959, playing in multiple field bands in the United States, Central and South America. In 1971, Lee was assigned to the USAF Academy Band where he played several years as principal clarinetist, traveling throughout the United States. Lee was a very devoted husband, father and grandpa, and was adored by his wife, children and grandchildren. One of his favorite things was spending time with his wife Sharon on their many trips to Lake Dillon and Breckenridge. Lee inspired his family to appreciate music. Throughout his life, he provided lessons and instruments to his two sons and many grandchildren who enjoyed playing music with their father and grandpa. His son Loren was privileged to perform and play in many local groups with him, and his son Brett enjoyed their many long talks over lunch on a regular basis. His daughters Denise and Kimberly loved him so very much, and will always be thankful for his kindness, love and silliness, and unwavering acceptance. He enjoyed listening to music, long walks, photography and was an avid reader. Having a wonderful sense of humor, he enjoyed telling stories and jokes and philosophizing the meaning of life.
He is loved and greatly missed by his family, countless musicians, friends and numerous audiences. We were so blessed to have him a part of our lives.
