Thursday, March 31, 2022 at age 92.
Born in New York City on October 12, 1929 to South American immigrants, Richard was a self-made man who lived his life on his own terms, without apology, although in the end, as with everyone, with some regrets. He loved dressing with style, adored dogs, grew to love cats, hated rules, always looked for mischief, and lived life with gusto. He lived with a twinkle in his eye, a spring in his step, and an eye for the next Mrs. Rodriguez, believing wholeheartedly that the 5th would be the charm. Without question, his was a full and colorful life.
In his last years, he was blessed to know and feel the love and caring of family and friends - his loving sister Yolanda, niece Meryl and her husband David, grand-niece Jennifer and her family, especially great-nephew Jack, good and true friends Joe and Lydell Martinez, and the extraordinary devoted staff at The Living Center at Sunny Vista.
We will miss his charm, his style, his humor, and that mischievous twinkle in his eye. He joins his parents, Jose and Angelina, three sisters, Ernestine, America, and Carmen, his brother Roy, and beloved dog-son Joey and cat-daughter Nena in the afterlife. He is survived by a daughter, grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren as well.
Thanks for the fun and the laughter and the memories, Richard. We sure enjoyed your company and having you in our lives. Rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, Richard wished for a donation to the ASPCA or Humane Society, or your local no-kill animal rescue organization in his memory.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MtViewMortuary.com for the RODRIGUEZ family.
