Richard Allan (Rich) Suppes, age 64, of Colorado Springs, passed away unexpectedly on June 1st, 2025. Rich was born February 7th, 1961, in Ridgewood, New Jersey to Donald and Charlotte Suppes. Growing up in New Jersey, Rich loved running cross country and track, playing tennis, and bowling.
On the first day of college in 1979, Rich met his wife, Louise, at the University of Vermont. They were married May 28th, 1983 in Kingston, Massachusetts and were married over 42 years. Together they lived in five states finding the perfect home in Colorado. Rich and Louise raised two amazing children: Bri and Addy. As a family they loved traveling, skiing, and visiting family and friends. Rich was a wonderful father and loved assisting with the kid’s sports however he could. This included running the 800 at the Rocky Mountain State games to win alongside his daughter Briana in their respective age divisions. He became a referee for lacrosse in order to spend more time with Addy, who played lacrosse all through high school. He was a fabulous grandfather to his 3 grandsons, as Hayden says “the best grumpa ever”.
Rich served 22 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 2005 in Colorado Springs. He began his career as a missile launch officer at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, and then moved to space operations where he was stationed at Fairchild, Beale, Peterson (several times), Kirkland, and Cheyenne Mountain Force Bases. Rich’s satellite operations and ground-based missile warning experience, coupled with his operational test and evaluation expertise, made him the perfect fit for working space requirement issues at Headquarters Air Force Space Command. Upon his retirement, Rich would spend the next 18 years working various technical and leadership positions at Lockheed Martin providing real-time testing, support, and continued development for the Space Based Infrared System.
Rich is survived by his wife Louise Suppes, their children, Briana Schneider (Trent Schneider), Addyson Geoffroy-Suppes (Nina Geoffroy-Suppes), their three grandchildren: Hayden Schneider, Ryan Schneider and Luca Geoffroy-Suppes, and his brother Bruce Suppes (Nancy Suppes). Rich is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Suppes and Charlotte Suppes.
