Robert Dean Becker, Sr. beloved husband of Letha Lorraine Rasdall Becker, who preceded him in death 36 hours later. Father of 3, Grandfather of 7, Great Grandfather of 11, and Great-Great Grandfather of 3, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2016, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, July 15, 1925, the second of three children born to the late Harold C. and Cora Inas Stoufer Becker.
Robert (Bob) attended Wyandotte County High School at Kansas City, Kansas. In 1943, he dropped out of school to serve our country. He went to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas and entered into the Army Air Corps to fight in WWII. He went to AAF Technical School in Chanute, IL, to become a Teletype Operator. He was also a Gunner and a Carbine Sharpshooter and received Decorations and Citations, including: The American Theater Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Metal Victory Ribbon. Robert developed Rheumatic Fever and was unconscious for several months and had no dog tags on when they found him in his barracks. His fellow soldiers had caught a plane to Europe. So his commanders did not know where he was either. The Army Air Corps hospital eventually found out who he was, though he remained unconscious for some time. After recovery he went home and married Letha and he remained in the service for a while. After he left the service they moved back to Kansas City, Kansas.
Robert had many other jobs before moving his family to Pueblo, Colorado in 1958. He managed a restaurant when he was younger, jumped trains, hitch-hiked and even road on some cows in a trailer on a truck just to find work. The driver never knew he and his friend were there. So he did odd jobs in several states to make money. But most of his adult life he was in the car business. Working either as a Body/Fender man, or a car salesman in Kansas City, Pueblo and Colorado Springs. In 1961 his wife and three children moved to Colorado Springs and he became a car salesman for Daniels until he was promoted into management. He gained enough knowledge and skill that he was promoted to General Manager of Daniels Chevrolet in Colorado Springs. He remained in that position for many years until his heart started causing major problems.
Family and friends were very important to him. He had the greatest sense of humor. He always kept Letha laughing with jokes and silly songs he would make up. He made everyone who met him smile. He sang, played the electric and acoustic guitars, banjo, and electric mandolins. He loved playing cards, watching football, golf and NASCAR. He had a fake radio program where he was DJ “Bobby B” of Triple B Broadcasting. He spent hours and years making recordings to bring joy to others.
God made him the best friend and Father, but especially most loving, devoted husband to Letha. ‘Til death do us part, is what people say. l say they’re still together on this very day. They were smart enough to follow Jesus, and they were guaranteed their love with Him FOREVER!!! They passed 36 hours apart and never knew the other was gone. My prayer, as well as others' prayers were for them to never know the other was gone and not feel the pain and loss. Our prayers were answered when they both went unresponsive the same day.
GOD IS GOOD!!! Remember to not miss any moments. Remind me, Dear Lord.
He left us with lots of funny material. We love you, Daddy!
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving children and grandchildren, daughter Teri Ann and husband Gary Reinmuth, and their son Rob and wife Kris; daughter Shelley and husband Keith Welch; and Tim and wife Carrie Reinmuth, as well as all of their children; daughter Sandra Lea Walsh and her son, Jesse Blackwell and daughter Tiffany Blackwell; son Robert Dean Becker, Jr. and wife Autumn and his son Nikolas Becker and wife Panda and son Casey Becker, as well as all of their children.
