Robert "Newt" Newton passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2025. Newt was a Colorado Springs native. Newt worked for School District 11 for 40 years where he was well thought of by staff and students. For 25 years Newt worked as custodian and then building manager at John C. Fremont Elementary. Newt will be remembered for his fondness of the Grinch, his Grinch decorations and the creation of Fremont Elementary's Grinch Day.
Newt's hobbies included hot air ballooning where he was crew for the Flying Desert Viking Clan of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Newt was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a living history group, where his hobbies have hobbies.
Newt is survived by his wife, Therese Hofheins; Step-Brother Dan Busse; Dan's Wife, Lisa Busse and their son, Deven Busse.
