Robert G. Simpson, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went Home to be with the Lord on May 9, 2012. He was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, May 18, 1953 the second of three children born to Ada Frances and the late Edwin Gene Simpson.
Bob graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1971 and from Western State College in 1975. Throughout his career, Bob worked as a sales manager in the chewing gum, candy and mints industry, and then later as the General Manager of the National Little Britches Rodeo Association. After retirement due to his advancing muscle disease, he dedicated his time to making Amazing Grace crosses that were shared with people all over the world. He gave them away with the message that God’s grace is a gift, the price already paid in full! When anyone tried to praise him for his work, he was quick to correct them with “To God Be the Glory”. At the time of his death, he was active in a Friday Morning Men’s Bible Study, the President of the Pinon Glen Homeowners Association, and serving as a board member for Southern Colorado Youth For Christ.
He walks on before his devoted wife, Susan D. Simpson; loving children, Kelly (Matt) Rodak; Jennifer Simpson; grandchildren Troy and (soon to be) Molly; mother, Ada Frances Simpson; sisters Glynda and Peggy; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodmen Valley Chapel, Rockrimmon Campus, 290 E. Woodmen Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Colorado Youth For Christ, 2120 G Academy Circle, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
