

He is survived by his children, Dean (Delonna) Waters, Arlene (David) Karlin, Sharon (Scott) Sutherland; step-sons, Doug (Valerie) Voorhees, Steve (Paula) Voorhees, John Voorhees, Dan Voorhees; and his companion, Donna Clark; as well as 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Bob was born on November 28th, 1926 in Gardner, Massachusetts to David and Anna Waters. In 1944 he graduated from Saugerties High School, in NY, where he fell in love with his high school sweetheart Charlotte Diehl. They were married in 1947 and shared a beautiful life until her passing in 1983.
From a young age, Bob had a passion for airplanes and aviation, which motivated him to attend Army Air Force pilot training at Niagara University. During WWII he was an aviation cadet and served in the U.S. Air Corps until his honorable discharge in 1945.
He graduated from Clarkson University in 1951 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, before becoming a registered Professional Engineer (PE). His successful career included employment at both Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and Consolidated Controls in Connecticut, as well as North American Aerospace Defense Command at Peterson Air Force Base.
Bob’s love for nature and mountains brought him to Woodland Park, CO in 1964, where he lived for 51 years. He was an avid pilot, was active in land development and custom home building, as well as served on the Woodland Park Planning Commission. In 1989, Bob married Nancy Voorhees and spent 19 wonderful years traveling the world together until her passing in 2008. Bob spent the last 12 years in Woodland Park/Colorado Springs with his companion, Donna Clark. Together they enjoyed numerous camping trips and international adventures.
Bob was also passionate about skiing, hiking, nature, and travel. He lived vivaciously, filling his life with adventures in the outdoors and explorations around the world. Through his stories and writing, he inspired others to fulfill their dreams and embrace every moment of life.
A viewing for Robert will be on Friday, April 14th from 5-8pm at Swan-Law Funeral Directors (501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO). Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 15th at 12 o’clock pm (noon) at Mountain View United Methodist Church (1101 Rampart Range Rd., Woodland Park, CO). A reception and graveside service will follow.
