

Ron was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska on April 11, 1941 and graduated from Broken Bow High School with the class of 1959. His life between those events was nomadic, living in many locations while Philbert and Mary (Myers), his beloved parents, pursued a successful career in earth moving construction. Bonnie Devish Hircock, her husband Charles, and Jim Devish were his beloved siblings.
He cherished his time at Broken Bow High School and participated in football and track. He was a member of the 1959 State Championship Track Team and played in the first Nebraska Shrine Bowl Football Game. He is a member of the Broken Bow High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Ron graduated from Hastings College (Bachelor of Arts) in 1963 where he met the first great love of his life, Celinda Mounts of Alliance, NE. They were married on August 17, 1963. Together they built a life blessed with two children (Julie and Mark), a son-in-law (Dr. Stewart Tatem), and grandchildren Ryan Tatem and Paige Tatem.
While at Hastings College, he played football for four years and earned All-Conference Honors three years as an offensive and defensive lineman. He is a member of the Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame.
Ron also earned degrees from the University of Wyoming (Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering) and Marshall University (Master of Business Administration). His career was in chemical engineering and chemical manufacturing management for the DuPont Company. His career took his family to Colorado, Wyoming, Ohio, Kentucky, New Jersey, Tennessee, Virginia, Texas, and Georgia. He was forever grateful for Celinda’s support of his life’s work.
Ron and Celinda retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1997.
Ron loved his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling with Celinda and kibitzing with his golf buddies. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and twice served on the Vestry and was Senior Warden for two years. He served as usher for many years.
Ron met Judy Hubbell, the second great love of his life, in 1959 while at Hastings College. Judy and Celinda were roommates and close friends. After their spouses passed away, Judy and Ron were united in a Christian celebration on October 16, 2022. They enjoyed their years together very much. Ron often expressed how blessed he was for having two wonderful girls share his life.
He was preceded in death by Celinda, his wife of 59 years, his parents, his brother Jim, and his brother-in-law, Dr. Charlie Hircock.
Ron is survived by his daughter Julie, son-in-law Stewart Tatem, and grandchildren Ryan Tatem and Paige Tatem, all of Reno, NV; his son Mark of Gainesville, FL; and his sister, Bonnie Hircock of Sun City West, AZ.
Ron is also survived by Judy Hagge, her son Andrew Stover (Carmel), and her daughter Stef Stover (Mark).
A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church, 1515 N. Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, on Friday, April 10, at noon. Cremains will be interred in the Mounts Family Plot in the Alliance, NE cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Broken Bow High School Class of 1959 Scholarship Fund, PO Box 304, Broken Bow, Nebraska 68822.
