all the loved ones who passed before him; parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, who
became family to him.
Ron was born to Mel and Lois Garner on July 8, 1952, in Colorado Springs, CO. He spent most
of his life in Colorado. Ron joined the United States Air Force and went to Vietnam, repairing
helicopters and going on rescue missions. Ron, THANK YOU for your service. From the military,
Ron returned to Colorado Springs and started working for his aunt and uncle's electronic
manufacturing plant. He worked in that industry, holding various positions for over 40 years.
Ron was passionate about fishing, the Colorado Avalanche, cars, and his beloved dog, Cooper.
Ron never missed the Mile High Nationals Drag Racing event. It is fitting that the last event held
at Bandimere Speedway is also the last race that Ron will attend in person. Ron was a HUGE
Avalanche fan. He would invite friends and family over to watch games with him. Not
surprisingly he knew the stats on all the players. To say Ron was a fishing fanatic is an
understatement. Starting with spin fishing and then on to mastering the art of fly fishing; Ron
always wanted to be on the water. He cherished his trips to Belize with his fishing buddy, Joe.
For years, you could find him at one of his favorite holes with his fishing buddies- Steve, Doug,
Joe, and Scot. Ron spent many hours with this group, and they all have such fond memories of
these times.
For the past several years, Ron had a new love in his life- his beloved dog, Cooper. Ron loved
Cooper, and Cooper loved Ron. Ron, Cooper misses you, but rest assured, he is very well
taken care of, just like you wanted him to be.
Memorial service will be held on April 11, 2024 at 3:00 pm. Memorial Gardens Funeral Home
3825 Airport Rd. Colorado Springs, CO.
The AVS are on a roll, and we know Ron is cheering them on. We welcome all to cheer on the
AVS with Ron by wearing your favorite Avalanche gear.
Ron's calm, generous, loving nature left a lasting impression on all who met him. We were
blessed to know him and will miss him tremendously. Rest in Peace, Ron Boy.
