AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Ronald D Sargent

29 septembre 1942 – 7 mai 2025
AUX SOINS DE

Mountain View Funeral & Cremation

Ronald Dean Sargent passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025 at his home in Colorado Springs.

Ron was born on September 29, 1942 in Bedford, Indiana to Ward L. and Frances M. Sargent and grew up in Southern Indiana playing on all the baseball diamonds he could find and fishing where the bass and catfish were. Upon graduating as the Bedford High School valedictorian in 1960, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and served three times in the Republic of China, where he met and married Chi-Shie (Nancy) Wu of Taipei. He also served twice in the Republic of Vietnam, first as a morse code interceptor and then as an administrative specialist. Following subsequent assignments in California and in Hawaii, Ron retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1981 and returned home to Bedford, where he enrolled at Indiana University and graduated with a B.A. degree in education. He then served as a secondary school and community college math instructor in Indiana, South Carolina, Colorado, and Guam before retiring in 2005. Following his retirement, he frequently shared his passion for math education with his three grandchildren and as a tutor. He also stayed busy working as a volunteer with the Colorado Springs elderly community and as a member of a local hiking group. He also hiked to the summit of a few of Colorado’s highest peaks. In his later years, he proudly chronicled his Air Force career for his friends and family members.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his younger brother, Richard M. Sargent of Beaumont, California. He is survived by his sister, Patricia A. Foy, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; his sons, Ron Sargent Jr. of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Martin Sargent of Colorado Springs; his grandchildren, Maria Barrientez, Benjamin Sargent, and Nathan Sargent; and his great-grandchildren, Riley and Baker Barrientez.

He will be laid to rest together with his beloved wife of 42 years.

Lastly, while all sentiments are welcomed, the family respectfully requests that you give in Ron’s name to your preferred cancer charity in lieu of sending flowers.
