Russell "Russ" Norman Long, 82, passed away February 13, 2020 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was one of five children born to Ernest and Esther (Toleffson) Long on October 27, 1937 in Saskatchetoon, Canada. Shortly after birth, Russ moved with his family to Plentywood, Montana.
Russ met the love of his life, Barbara May McCall and they were married on September 16, 1956 in Comertown, Montana. In 1965 Russ and Barbara moved to Colorado Springs. Colorado where Russ worked civil service for the Air Force Academy fire department, retiring as the Assistant Fire Chief in 1994.
Russ is survived by his three sons, Rick (Kim), Craig and Dean (Susie); his daughter, Cathy Long; six grandchildren, Stephanie, John, Jennifer, Russell, Jeremy and Kaitlyn; and four great-grandchildren, Brooke, Kylie, Adelyn and Aiden; one brother, Clayton Long and one sister Deloris Evenson. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; his parents, his brother Dale Long and his sister Bernice Coffman.
Russ loved routing for the Broncos, win or lose and was an avid golfer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday. February 20, 2020 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Swan Law Directors, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Colorado. Funeral services will follow directly after the viewing, at 11 a.m. at Swan Law Funeral Home with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
