

Ruth C Beham, 93, passed away on February 1, 2022. She was born in Altoona, PA in August, 1928, The depression forced the family to move to Queens, N.Y.C. in 1929. She resided there for 55 years. She graduated from St. Barbara Parocial School. The family moved to Colorado Springs in 1984 to be close to her daughter. Ruth was a top rated seamstress. She modeled clothes for her company. She wore a different garment every time she went out, was a meticulous home keeper, and excellent cook. We only hope to live our lives as true and pure as she has. Ruth always had a pleasant smile. She was liked by everyone. She loved playing solitaire. Ruth met the love of her life at a picnic in 1947. She married Max in Jan, 1949. They were happily married for 71 years. Three wonderful children completed this family, Lorraine, Ruth and James, a former Marine. Grandchildren Brian, James, and Amanda. A sister Irma and Pauline and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a excellent ballroom dancer. One time Max gave her 100 spins. Ruth persuaded Max to take cha-cha lessons followed for the next 18 years at the Byrnes and Swanson Dance Studio. In Brooklyn, NYC Gloria Swanson was a famous movie star, she was the sister to the studio owner. At this studio, Ruth performed with her husband the ten standard worldwide social dances, the foxtrot, waltz, rumba, pasa doble, Viennese waltz, tango, cha-cha, lindy, samba, English tango. A talent scout observed their dancing at a USABA dance at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. He asked them to perform on a new TV dance show called “Step This Way.” The judges were Gizzele McKienzie, Gretchen Wyler, and Sheila McRay from the musical Oklahoma. Woody Herman and his band played for their performance on TV. Ruth and Max are lifetime members at the V.F.W. Post 4051 and have dinner and danced at the V.F.W post almost every Friday night for many years with their most delightful friends. Their three children were college educated. Ruth practiced her faith and prayed to the Lord daily and called upon him to provide peace and guidance in all situations.
