

Ruth Mae (Brabham) Ramey, daughter of the late Oscar James and Pearline Brabham, was born March 31, 1944 in Bamberg, South Carolina. She departed this life January 2, 2019 at her home in Peyton, Colorado.
Ruth, as she was so lovingly known by her friends and family attended Voorhees High School, a private school in Denmark, South Carolina, and upon graduating she furthered her education at Voorhees College, also of Denmark.
At an early age she joined the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church which she served faithfully. She later left the south and moved north to New York where she was employed by IBM, later CBS and retired from Lincoln Hall, a school for troubled boys where she managed one of the halls.
During Ruth’s time in New York she met the love of her life Robert Ramey. They were joined in holy matrimony on June 22, 1975 and enjoyed 43 years of marital bliss. In 1993 they moved from New York to Colorado which she remained 25 years until death.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Robert; sisters, Ernestine Grantham of Bridgeport, Connecticut and Ethel Harrell of Elmont, Long Island, New York; brothers, Nathaniel Brabham, of Atlanta Georgia and Kylon Brabham of Denmark, South Carolina.
Cherishing a beautiful memory is her son, Anthony Brabham; daughter in-law; best friend, Constance; and granddaughter, Amber; all of Orangeburg, South Carolina; sister, Carrie Martino of Queens New York; brothers, Oscar J. Brabham Jr., of Queens, New York; Matthew Brabham and Jonathan Brabham both of Denmark, South Carolina; and Franklin A. Brabham of Atlanta, Georgia. A host of in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
