One moment Sam was watching Sunday church service with his mom, taking a selfie with her, and the next moment he passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. On July 28, 2024, 14-year-old Samuel Ryan Wiesemann left behind the limitations of his body and mind affected by Cardio-Facio Cutaneous Syndrome (CFC) since his birth on April 8, 2010, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From the moment he came into our lives, Sam has filled our hearts with immeasurable love and laughter. Many folks looked at Samuel as special needs, however, in reality, he was no different than anyone else. Everyone needs help in life. Samuel’s help was a little more than others. But Samuel’s life was no mistake he was created in the image of God therefore Samuel was perfect according to God’s design and purpose. Samuel suffered much pain and agony in his existence, however, as soon as the pain subsided a little he was laughing and enjoying life.
Going for car rides and walks in his stroller and later in his wheelchair were Sam’s favorite things to do. The slightest bump in the road brought on fits of laughter and smiles always smiles. Sam taught us about joy and happiness and persevering through difficult times. Music time with Sam’s visiting teachers was another favorite activity. Sam was curious and would reach out gingerly and stroke the guitar strings, reveling in the sounds he created. His laughter echoed through our home, a melody of happiness that will forever resonate in our memories. Samuel’s life contained challenges different than most, however, Samuel was a happy outgoing fun young man. The simple things of life would cause laughter that most people miss, like the sound and feel of traveling over bumps in sidewalk or road, windows going up and down. His fascination of how doors operated spending hours watching the door open and close with the curiosity of what would be on the other side. Samuel’s demeanor would change with music, if we could have only understood what he was thinking with the different facial expressions as he would intently listen to the different sounds. Samuel loved spending time with Mom, head scratches, leg rubbing and just sitting and looking into Mommy's' eyes.
Samuel has traversed into eternity laughing, talking and running with the angels without pain and difficulties of an earthly life. Sam is survived by his mother Amy Koehn and his older brother Nathaniel Wiesemann, his father Brian Wiesemann and grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins.
Special thanks from the family and all who helped care for Sam and who worked with him during his short life. Though he may have left this world, his memory will live on in our hearts, a testament to his profound impact on those blessed to know him.
A funeral service is scheduled for August 23 at 10:45 in honor of Sam’s life at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs. All are welcome to attend.
