Sandra Rose Horton

Sandy was born on April 5, 1961 in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, daughter of Raymond & Rosemary Walkowski. As a military child, she lived in several states growing up and ultimately settled in Albuquerque, NM, where she attended the University of New Mexico. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in University Studies and an Associate’s Degree in Office Management.

After meeting in college, she married her husband of 38 years, Benjamin Horton, in 1985. The pair then adopted two children and moved the family and his business to Colorado Springs, CO in 1997 and have lived here ever since.

Sandy enjoyed volunteering in her children's schools and activities, attended and taught various bible studies, enjoyed gardening, and supporting various charities. Including St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which was most dear to her heart. She was a passionate dog lover and considered each one as part of the family. She was a very kindhearted person and truly loved her family above all.

She is survived by her husband Benjamin Thorne Horton, son Andrew Kennedy Horton (Denver, CO), & daughter Jennifer Rose Horton (Denver, CO); brothers Ray Walkowski (Lynn) (Colorado Springs, CO), Bruce Walkowski (Toni) (Albuquerque, NM), and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond & Rosemary Walkowski, who also welcomed her into Heaven.

She will have a funeral mass in her honor, June 16, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (2650 Parish View, Colorado Springs, CO) at 4:00pm, and intermed at Mt. St. Francis Columbarium following the mass. A celebration of life will follow with friends and family at Kissing Camels Golf Club at 6:00pm (4500 Kissing Camels Drive, Colorado Springs, CO).
