Shirley overcame health adversity and obstacles in her later years, she never felt sorry for herself, never quitting, as she adjusted, adapted and found the things that kept her ticking.
She will be remembered for her love of crafting, coloring pages, and crocheting. A quiet, wise, witty woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like reading, tending to her plants, and keeping an eye on her neighborhood. She enjoyed her solitude and independence, but always welcomed visitors, especially her many grandchildren.
Shirley was the second youngest of 6 children born to her parents Ruth (Alden) and Webster B. Steele . She was preceded in death by her 5 older siblings: Robert V. "Bob" Steele; Walter D. "Bud/Walt" Steele; Frances L. Steele; Mable "Marie" (Steele) Coates and is survived by her younger sister Lois I. (Steele) Borchers.
Shirley's family continued to grow with her 5 children: Daughter Kristine (Rob) Galkowski; Sons John (Sue) Kuefler and Jim (Joan) Peat and 9 beloved Grandchildren; 27 Great Grandchildren and 13 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Daughter: Rebecca (Pete) Seal and her son: Mark Kuefler, a Grandson: Criss Seal and one Great Grandson: Josh Lightfoot Jr.
