Shirley was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister-in-law, and Friend. For those who loved and knew her she will be greatly missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her Husband Lorence Snedaker, her Father Edwin Arthur Drake, her Mother Lydia Drake, Sister Helen Little and two Brothers Perry and Orvel Drake.
Shirley married her grade school sweetheart Lorence Snedaker in 1941. Shortly after their marriage Larry was called to serve in World War II. While her husband was away at war she lived with her Father in Fort Collins. Upon her Husband's return from the war she moved to Colorado Springs where Larry was stationed at Fort Carson as a Master Sargent.
The next big chapter came when she and Larry added two children to their family. First was a daughter Carol and then a son David. Her family was the "joy of her life". She dedicated her life to raising her family serving her church and community. An avid reader Shirley was a member of two book clubs and was never without a book to read day or night. She became an expert on Colorado history and loved to discuss history with anyone who would listen. She also belonged to the Old Car Club of Colorado Springs. She loved to drive with her friends on the day tours in her 1963 RED Cadillac convertible.
Shirley created deep and lasting friendships with the ladies of the "Lunch Bunch." Meeting monthly for over 59 years they are truly the Grande Dames of Colorado Springs.
She had the remarkable ability to touch people's lives and to be loved by everyone that she met.
Shirley is survived by her children, Carol Hoelscher, David Snedaker, Grand Children, Jessica Pruss, Sean Haines, Emily Wilson, Ann Hood, Alec Snedaker, Alyssa Snedaker, Son-in -law Cliff Hoelscher, Daughter in-law Sylvia Suarez, Sister in-laws Annette Snedaker, Mary Louden, many nieces and nephews and four great grandchildren.
