

Spottswood William Holland Williams III, known to family and friends as Skip, was born on December 24, 1946, in Greensboro, Alabama, to Spottswood Williams II and Sue Williams, and passed away on December 5, 2025 peacefully in his home.
He was raised in Greensboro and graduated from Greensboro High School before continuing his education at the University of Alabama. While attending the University of Alabama, Skip participated in the ROTC program with high honors and was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, joining on March 17, 1970. He earned his Juris Doctor degree in May 1971 and was admitted to the Alabama Bar that same year.
Following the start of his legal career, Skip relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado. On September 27, 1972, he was admitted to the Bar of the State of Colorado following approval by the Supreme Court of Colorado, authorizing him to practice as an attorney and counselor at law in all courts of record in the state. He was later admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals on April 4, 1974.
Skip was actively involved in the legal community through the El Paso County Bar Association. He served as a trial advocate and was recognized for his dedication to legal education, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation for serving as an instructor in the Trial Advocacy School on March 2, 1977. In 1984, he also volunteered his time and services within El Paso County.
In addition to his legal career, Skip proudly served in the United States Army as an Army Ranger. He entered military service as a Second Lieutenant and concluded his service with an honorable discharge at the rank of Captain on August 31, 1980.
Committed to lifelong learning and professional excellence, Skip attended the Harvard Law School Program of Instruction for Lawyers, completing the Negotiation Workshop in November 1993.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Skip will be remembered for his generous, loving, and kind spirit. He had a deep love for family and animals and found great joy in sharing stories
of his many adventures. In his later years, he found profound happiness and newfound love through his life with his fiancée, Lena Amaya Larson, and her family, whose love and companionship meant the world to him.
Skip is survived by his daughter, Mary Jennifer Williams; his fiancée, Lena Amaya Larson; and her children, Gina Sanchez and Nicanor Sanchez.
