Steve was born on June 16, 1928, in New York City to Stephen R. Odrobina, Sr. and Madeline Posser. He was the second of four children. He lived there until he joined the US Navy.
He was married to Edith Thompson, the love of his life, for 60 years until her death in 2010. Together they raised four daughters, living in many places during his 22-year career as a Naval Aviator. Computer programming was his second career. He loved to tell stories of his flying days and was especially proud of his aircraft carrier flight skills and fearless survival of several dangerous flight situations.
Steve had numerous passions. He was a competitive swimmer in college and later in Masters Swimming, and a regular swimmer throughout his life. He played the violin from age eight right through his days in assisted living. He loved sharing his music in person and through recordings.
Steve is survived by all four daughters: Kathy Odrobina of Colorado Springs, CO; Pat Odrobina of San Antonio, TX; Judi (Brian) Bristow of Richardson, TX; and Stephanie Odrobina of San Antonio, TX; 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Julia Stanley of MO.
Steve’s faith in God was the most important part of his life. He passed with the assurance of eternal life with Jesus. Steve was a life-long Catholic, devoted to the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Seven Sorrows Rosary. He gave away many rosaries along with prayer guides that he made. His last parish was Divine Redeemer Catholic Church in Colorado Springs.
