Susan “Jane” Penrod 85, passed away on Sunday January 26, 2025 after over a year of her heart causing difficulties. She let the angels take her to be with Jesus. Jane was born in Marion, Indiana and shortly thereafter the family moved to Muncie Indiana.
She attended elementary and high school at Buris School which was connected to the Ball State College in Muncie, Indiana. Jane became the second child and only girl to Mary Ellen (Fort) and Harry Mart. She had three brothers. John was the oldest passing January 9th, 2025, Jim and Jerry were younger and both deceased.
Jane and Jack met on vacation near Warsaw, Indiana and dated for ten months then decided to become married on June 1st, 1958. They raised four children: Robin Penrod, Daniel Paul Penrod (deceased), Susan Dawn Penrod (deceased), and Matthew Penrod. The children went on to have their own families. Robin has a daughter, Hope Ross who has two children, Jace and Preslee. Daniel Paul had one child Jebediah who had three children: Lane, Evelyn, and Wayde. Susan had one son, Joshua, and he has one daughter, Aria. Matthew has three children Gaige (deceased), Brayden and Tristan.
Shortly after their marriage Jane became very interested in working with and educating pre-school children. She joined a preschool and began learning and practicing how best to serve the families of young children as well as the children. This was three years before her first child, Jane continued this fulfilling occupation most of her life including raising her own four children.
Late in her life she decided to earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Development at Pikes Peak Community College, which she accomplished.
Throughout their marriage Jane and Jack attended and volunteered at several Methodist Churches during their many years of marriage.
A memorial service will be held 2PM Saturday, March 15th, 2025 at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade, Ave Colorado Springs, CO 80903
