Today I came across Tom’s mini candy Star Wars light Sabre that he bequeathed to me when he retired.   Made me smile thinking of all the meetings he carried that thing into.  It was his break-the-ice “let’s get something done” opener :-). -Cherie Gott

Tom was such a good friend, a kind person. We will miss all our outings with getting ice cream before we came home.  He was so comfortable to be a round. We had so many conversations with him. He will certainly be missed in our lives for all the joy he brought us. Love youTom. Stew and Kelen

I was Toms next door neighbor for over a decade and never had a cross word.  We had many conversations on the politics of the day and I never had a reason to disagree.  He never complained when my leaves intruded onto his immaculate lawn and welcomed my little poodle even when he was looking to leave a 'present' for Tom on his lawn.  Note that I always tried to pick up that 'present'.  A more even tempered person I have never met.  He was a great American and I will miss him.

Steve and I offer our sincere condolences as you grieve Tom's passing.  Our faith assures us of eternal life yet for those who linger on this earth, missing our loved ones is a very real and deeply palpable pain.   

Tom was certainly a man for the ages.   I am honored to have known him,  worked along side him,  and loved him as a brother in Christ.

It was a shock to learn of Tom’s passing after a brief illness.  Tom and I were high school friends at Wayne High.  We just sort of connected early in high school and enjoyed some of same things. Playing football, Tom was much better and a Homecoming King candidate. Tom also excelled in Band and in academics. We spent a lot of time putting the H. S. annual together, hung out a lot during graduation proceedings and enjoying some double-dating. Off to college , with Tom at Wichita State and I at Wayne State, we didn’t see each other much but Tom was in my wedding in 1972. We recently connected for lunch a couple times in Denver as two of my sons live there now and Tom was in C. Springs. 
Smart, organized and a great caring nature…Tom will be missed.

The Denesia's had traveled from Cleveland Ohio..1955 I had to ask them what those wires were on the car's rims(Curb Detectors). Many years later when we would have The Pribil reunions in O'Neill or Chambers, it was so nice visiting with Tom & Kathy. In 2014, Rebecca, Siena & I were in Colorado Springs for a wedding at The Air Force Chapel.  We stayed at their beautiful home.  Such a welcoming, kind & gracious couple.

So very sorry to hear of Tom's passing.  Really enjoyed working with Tom, going to ball games,  etc  so many years ago.  We are now up in Virginia , being near our son Brant and family.  Miss Colorado.

I first met Tom at his wedding with my dear cousin Kathy. The duo set an excellent example for a cocky high school student wondering what love and marriage could be in that “modern” age. Both were patient, kind, and respectful as I stretched my career legs and raised a family later shattered by divorce. Tom’s military ventures provided plentiful intrigues for my reporter instincts, as did his dabbling with an Oklahoma insurer my newspaper often covered. I admired his fortitude and insights into our nation’s responses to terrorism and natural disasters; both helped me adapt as my job increasingly dealt with government bodies and actions. Most of all, I appreciated that smile and wellspring of hope that shined every time I saw him. It reminded me of Kathy’s father, who I never saw angry. As Christ said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Tom and Julie jollying up at the MORS Fellows dinner in June 2023. I saw him one more time on August 18 2023. He was jolly and telling stories, as always. I will miss our camaraderie my friend.

Tom and I were inducted as MORS Fellows in 2019. This solidified our "twin" status, as we were also elected to the MORS board at the same time.

We were celebrating the MORS 50th anniversary in 2016. Tom always had a smile and a kind word whenever we worked together on MORS activities.

Tom was a courteous neighbor and a kind friend. Similar to a grandfather to our children, Tom had real and impactful conversations with them even as toddlers. He was actively involved - playing basketball and hockey, joining for birthday parties, attending band concerts, and coming to various school events - supporting us and the schools. He gave us so much of his time over the years.  

Yes, Tom really loved sports, but spending hours at kids' ball games is not something for any ordinary senior citizen. Outdoor spring soccer in Colorado often comes with sideways snow. Yet, he would remain invested and cheer out to the team. He would call great plays and turn to spectators to discuss specifics. Even though he would bring two folding chairs - which he would tie up with green twist ties when closing - Tom would always stand for the whole game.  

Truly a mindful man, he paid attention to whatever he was doing and whomever he was with at the moment. If you were speaking to Tom, he was listening. I had first thought Kathy (ever happy to do anything and everything) dragged poor Tom to this or that. No. He enjoyed himself. Tom was content in any setting and comfortable with all people. If you knew him at all, you felt like you knew him well. He was affable.

An incredibly intelligent person who continually educated himself, Tom was always interested in something and excitedly sharing his findings. Most recently for us, it was about how sugar is processed by the body and promoting the Lincoln mini-series. Kathy and I had decided he would tutor the kids in math as he had taken additional math and physics courses to boost his college GPA.  

Tom Denesia was a sincere, careful, thoughtful, generous, purposeful and balanced man with a wonderful smile. I am grateful for his life and for my family’s fortune in knowing him. We are better for his friendship and will miss him so.
