

Tom was born on September 13, 1935, in St. Cloud, Minnesota and was the son of Conrad and Mary (Honich) Sauer. He graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud and later earned a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Nebraska in Omaha. He married Jacqueline Mary Knettel, on June 15, 1957.
Tom served our country for 24 years in the United States Air Force. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and a Master Navigator in Strategic Air Command. After he retired from USAF, Tom settled in Colorado Springs. He was a member of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, where he helped make meals for the homeless and organized donations for the poor. In later years, Tom attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Tom also volunteered for Donald Wescott Fire Department, as well as Black Forest Fire Department. Gardening was also a real passion for Tom, and he was particularly good at it, even winning local competitions for his vegetables.
Tom is survived by his children, Thomas (Nancy) Sauer of Colorado Springs and Timothy Sauer of Keene, NH; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings Geraldine Schwab of St. Cloud, and Daniel Sauer (wife: Jean) of Pierz, MN.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers John, Richard, James, and Conrad; sisters, Margie, Mildred, Ruth, Clara and Rose.
