

He was born on June 14, 1932 in Emmaus, PA to Vincent and Bessie Demoise McElroy. Vincent grew up in Emmaus and married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Fenstermacher McElroy in 1951 prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star for Valor award. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and began work for what is now Buckeye Pipeline Company as a Petroleum dispatcher where he worked for several years in Macungie, Pa, then transferring to Verona, New York, where he completed what would be a 40 year career retiring in 1994.Vincent and Shirley were married for over 48 years when she preceded him in death on 5 Feb 1999.
He is survived by four sons and their wives, Michael and Elizabeth McElroy of Colorado Springs, CO, Dennis and Julie McElroy of Vernon N.Y, James and Donna McElroy of Verona, N. Y. and Dale and Jackie McElroy of Rome, N.Y. He is Survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph McElroy of Zionsville, PA and Robert McElroy of Emmaus, PA.
Vincent was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, archer and fisherman as well as a lifetime member of the VFW.
A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Mortuary 2350 Montebello Square Drive Colorado Springs, CO on Feb 3. A visitation will be held from 12:00 til 1:00 PM followed by a memorial service from 1:00 til 1:30 PM In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the VFW or American Cancer Society.
