Romans 14:8
Virgil, beloved, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully and entered the Kingdom of God on May 25, 2021 in Colorado Springs Colorado. Virgil was born in Pass Creek, Colorado on February 2, 1932, to Presentasion and Delinia (Jaramilla) Cordova.
Virgil spent his early years in and around Huerfano County Colorado and learned to be a hard worker from his father. One of his first jobs outside the family property was at the Pueblo Steel mill. Virgil recently shared the story of having starting work there at the tender age of 16. The work was hard and often had him witness the many people that were burned or seriously injured and he knew he had to find work elsewhere.
Virgil proudly served his country enlisting in the Army in 1953. After serving a stint in Korea Virgil returned to Colorado and worked many jobs. One of his treasured stories was when he helped build the NORAD complex in Cheyenne Mountain. He found his way back to working with the Air Force as a Civil Servant and retired in 1988 after 32 years credited service with many awards and recognition certificates.
Virgil is survived by his son, Donald (Maria) Cordova, Barbara (Terry) Reed, Louann (Jack) Compton, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sister, Mary Rivera and his companion for many years, Eralia Salazar. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy J. (Duran) Cordova; brothers Ben Cordova, Ralph Cordova, Joe Cordova; sisters, Mary Ann McMahon and Mary Alice Romero.
