A dedicated family man, Bill was married to the love of his life, Joan, for 68 years before her passing 5 months ago. He moved to Colorado to pursue a career of owning his own business and did so successfully upon his retirement. Prior to opening his business, Bill proudly served in the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. He also was an Instructor for Public Service Electric and Gas in New Jersey.
Bill’s days were filled with spending time with family and friends. His quick wit always had everyone laughing. Bill was also an experienced hunter who loved hunting with his sons and grandsons. He was a wealth of information-there was nothing he couldn’t repair, and he was glad to show anyone how to fix what was broken.
Bill’s passion was enjoying life to the fullest with his loved ones. Not a day went by without Bill having his signature smile on his face. He never missed a party; he was always ready to travel- cruising to different countries was his favorite.
Bill was predeceased in life by his loving wife, Joan, his son, Gary and his brother Joe. Surviving are Bill’s son William Jr. and his wife Eileen of Murrells Inlet, SC, his daughter Karen DuBois and her husband Patrick Sr. of Colorado Springs, CO, and his daughter in law Terri Mayfield of Parker, CO. Bill is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Patrick DuBois Jr (Ewa), William Mayfield III, Michele Powell, Daniel Mayfield (Amy), Michael DuBois (Amanda), Anthony Mayfield (Monica), Jeanette Harrison (Matthew), and David DuBois (Morgan). Those grandchildren blessed Bill with 16 great-grandchildren: Christian, Haleigh, Brooklynn, Trista, Matthew, Bo, Harper, Patrick III, Everleigh, Palmer, Gracie, Lincoln, Ford, Lucy, Adley and Emmitt. Bill is also survived by his brother John and his wife Annette, sisters in law Barbara Gilham, Helen Babbitts, and Judy Babbitts and her husband Elliot Maxwell. Bill also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
