

Wilma Jean (Meredith) Spelbring
Wilma made her grand entrance into eternity with her Lord Jesus Christ on February 8, 2012. Wilma was born on June 4, 1931 in Xenia, IL to Rev. I.E. Meredith and Norma E. (Carter). Wilma grew up in southern IL in various towns where her father was appointed for ministry. During this time she discovered her God-given gift of playing the piano and organ and she used this gift throughout her life at various churches and events.
Following her high school years in Herrin, IL she attained her LPN license and worked for Herrin Hospital and Dr. H. V. Fine in Carterville, IL. Wilma married Harold “Gene” Spelbring on May 12, 1951 and they moved their family to Colorado Springs in 1964. Wilma continued in the medical field in Colorado Springs with Penrose Hospital as a medical transcriptionist and surgical scheduler. Upon her retirement from Penrose Hospital in 1992 she began Genesis Transcription Services and officially retired August 2007. She was a member of the American Association for Medical Transcription.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lloyd Meredith, husband, son, Harold “Gene” Spelbring II, and son-in-laws Paul Vore and Robert Rotz. She is survived by her daughters, Janet Vore, Deby (Wes) Kenyon of Colorado Springs and Beverly (Mark) Trusty of Salina, KS, brother, David (Ruth Ann) Meredith of Lansing, KS, sister, Mary (Paul) Scott of Loveland, CO, granddaughter, Amanda (Mike) Murphy of Colorado Springs, great grandchildren, Ariana Mangum and Donavyn Murphy of Colorado Springs; and many extended family members. Wilma lived to love and serve her family.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 1:00pm at the Advantage Chapel of Memories, 829 S. Hancock Ave. Memorial gifts can be made to Living Faith Church of the Nazarene, 2120 King St., Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
