

Betty Jean (Barwegen) Van Meeteren of Redlands, California was received by her Lord and Savior on December 29, 2022. She was born on November 4, 1933 to Henry and Jean Barwegen of Momence, Illinois. Her life was forever touched by the passing of her mother in her toddler years. On February 3, 1956, she married Charles Van Meeteren and began her journey west.
She loved God, her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and gave herself to serving them. She will be remembered for her listening ear and faithful godly instruction which included gathering around the piano on Sunday mornings to sing the family’s favorite hymns in praise to God.
She is survived by her husband, Charles, sister-in-law, Beverly Feenstra, and her five children and their children: Charles and Beth Van Meeteren; William and Faith Smit, Curtis and Lisa Van Meeteren, Tarah, and Nathan and Esther Van Meeteren, Randy and Nancy Hendriks; Robert and Sheri McClaury, Joel and Amy Hendriks, Jeff and Maruso Hendriks, Don and Shelly De Vries; Daniel De Vries, Kevin and Abby Huizing, Gary and Mary Gaastra; Scott and Emily Gaastra, Casey and Kristina Meelker, Jeremy and Brittany DeJong, Adrian and Elisabeth Gaastra and Steven and Beth Potjer; Zachary and Lauren Feenstra, Bradley and Jenna Potjer, Austin and Lisa Potjer, Sam and Brooke Huizing, Charles Potjer and Luke and Mikaia Potjer and 43 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister and husband, Floyd and Greta Bruhn, brother-in-law, John Feenstra and granddaughter Kari DeVries (Don and Shelly De Vries).

Intermittent will be held at Montecito Memorial Park at 2:30pm on January 16, 2023. A memorial will follow at Hope Protestant Reformed Church at 1309 East Brockton Avenue, Redlands, CA 92374, at 3:30pm.
