Carlos was a lover of music, dance, and the arts his entire life. Many of his high school friends of his youth loved to see him dance. He also shared his love of music, dance, and art with his family throughout his life. We would like to honor his memory and love of the arts through a scholarship fund at his alma mater; Colton High School. Any wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers may send a check to:

Aboytes, Carlos R. Jr. “Palma”
On September 14, 2014 we lost Carlos R. Aboytes, Jr. Born on March 29, 1938. He is survived by his wife; Estella Aboytes, three children; Wanda Reihanabad, Sheila Fortunato, and Earl Aboytes, and six grand-children; Michael Fortunato, Nicholas Reihanabad, Lauren Aboytes, Zachary Carlos Aboytes, Nathan Reihanabad, and Alex Fortunato.
Carlos was born and raised in Colton and lived his adult life in the Redlands area. He was a hard worker from an early age beginning with working in the family Garage Service business as a mechanic. During his younger years he always enjoyed the arts. He frequently spoke of his youth being filled with varied types of music, dancing, and painting. Carlos began his six year service in the Army in 1956 which included time in Korea and three years in the reserves. After returning home from active duty he married his wife of 54 years and fathered three children.
Carlos worked many jobs before entering the Operating Engineer’s Union and becoming a heavy equipment operator. He took great pride in this occupation and taught his children to always do a great job. He did this, not through words, but by example. He always put his family first and professed that education and hard work is the way to a better life.
On the weekends Carlos enjoyed visiting with family and friends, hunting, fishing, playing cards at his brother’s house, and “resting his eyes” in front of the television. In 1998 he retired and finally got the rest and relaxation he always dreamed about. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family in his pickup truck and camper through the United States and Canada. At home he rediscovered his artistic side and started painting again.
Carlos was always a happy, friendly man who loved to laugh and talk with anyone. He is loved and will be missed by all of us.
A wake service will be held at 4pm on Sunday, October 5th at the Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary in Colton. A memorial service will be held at 10am on October 6th at the Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary in Colton. Carlos will be placed to rest at the Riverside National Cemetery at 12:45pm October 6th. A reception will be held the afternoon of October 6th at a separate location to be determined at a later date.
