Charles was born October 22, 1948 in San Bernardino. He had three sisters (Sandra, Katrinka, and Patricia.) He married Elizabeth Olivia Gutierrez, whom also is a lifetime resident of San Bernardino, in 1969. They had two sons together, Charles Lino Gutierrez, Jr., and Guy Michael Gutierrez, and were wed for 55 years.
Aside from being a husband and father, Charles devoted his life to his profession and took so much pride within his work as a masonry contractor. For 25 years, he ran his own company “Inland Masonry” and became one of the best throughout the whole area. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching sports such as football, baseball and basketball. But it wasn’t until the birth of his granddaughter that he was able to feel the proudest he’s ever felt; to quote him “I’d never know a happiness like this, it’s like I was given a second chance.” He will forever be tremendously missed by his family and those who knew him.
Charles was a very important and well respected person to those who knew him. He was a loyal, honest, kind, generous and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved his family irrevocably and had such a huge warm heart. Never displaying malicious or snobby intentions, but always only ever being so humble, inviting and patient with every person he encountered. He was selfless when it came to his granddaughter though, because no matter what, he was never too busy to be there for her. Every drop off, pick up, assembly, play, practice, or game, his granddaughter could always count on him to be there in the crowd.
He is survived by his wife Olivia Gutierrez, his two sons, Charles Jr., and Guy, grand-daughter, Alexis Gutierrez, as well as his grandson Erik Menchaca, his two younger sisters, Sandra Miller and Katrinka Frisbie, and his two nephews, Lino and Emilio Gutierrez.
“I lived a great life but now it’s my time to go. And you know what they call that? Life in the big city.”
